Liberal Democrats start by-election campaign with a lie
UKIP candidate Chris Adams today rubbished claims that the Lib Dems were the only party that had campaigned to save local post offices.
Mr Adams said that the truth was that the Lib Dems had voted every time since 1997 for the Postal Services Directive in the European Parliament.
“This is the directive that is responsible for the break up of Britain’s postal services. It is sheer hypocrisy that they should pretend that they want to save post offices when at the same time they have spent the past eleven years aiding and abetting in their closure.”
“People in Henley should not be fooled by these claims. It is the first of many falsehoods you can expect to hear from this party in the next three weeks. Remember that this is the Party that promised a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty then broke this promise. The Lib Dems are not a party to trust with your vote.”
